PRESS RELEASE

HLM SCHEME WINS RIBA YORKSHIRE AWARD

Sheffield Hallam University’s Heart of the Campus scheme, designed by Sheffield-based international architects, HLM, has won a RIBA Yorkshire Award.

HLM designed the £24m scheme for the university’s Collegiate Crescent Campus, which was constructed in a conservation area on a very restricted site with limited access. The building — incorporating a three-storey atrium — was designed to accommodate various social and learning activities, including a new café, open learning zones and IT areas, alongside bespoke world class teaching spaces for the departments of Law, Criminology and Criminal Justice; Psychology, Sociology and Politics.

Commenting on the award, Nick Beecroft said: “We’re all delighted to have this scheme recognised by RIBA’s independent panel of judges and to win this prestigious award, which is an important accolade.

“It reflects positively on the whole company and demonstrates our commitment to designing landmark schemes that are not only visually stunning but are entirely fit-for-purpose.”

The regional winners were announced on Thursday 23 April 2015.
